Chautauqua lives a new season begins
Every year The Chautauqua Institution offers a summer program that spans for 9 weeks. Each week has a theme that has been carefully selected to cover topics that relate to our daily lives.
And with each season hopes are high that the goals set by Chautauqua to reach out and influence and shape lives through lectures, workshops and entertainment will be reached.
Week One at Chautauqua Institution is “Roger Rosenblatt and more friends. ” The following you tube goes into more detail about the theme and morning lectures.

Often after a lecture you will hear people sitting on the porches in the small homes that line the narrow and winding street debating the topics that were discussed that day and previous days.
Lily Dale 2010 daily schedule
Lily Dale was established in 1879 and is considered to be the largest center for spiritual development and the practice Spiritualistic religion. The community is open during the summer offering a full schedule of activities.

The 131st season opened June 25, 2010 and will close August 29, 2010. And although the summer season closes in late August the community is open all year round. It just operates at a quite pace without a gate fee and planned activities. For further information on off-season activities check the Lily Dale off-season link.
The lily Dale summer programs include lectures, workshops and other activities featuring best-selling authors. Leaders in academic and scientific research into psychic phenomena, as well as the world’s most powerful mediums, teachers and healers participate in the programs and activities offered.

1:00 pm *Message Service at Inspiration Stump
2:30 pm Guest Speaker and Clairvoyant in the Auditorium
4:00 pm *Message Service at Forest Temple Monday – Saturday
5:30 pm *Message Service at Inspiration Stump
7:00 pm Healing Service in the Healing Temple
* In the event of inclement weather, the service will be held in the Auditorium.

One other attraction of Lily Dale is the beautiful architecture and winding paths and gardens on the grounds. Cassadage Lake also lines one section of the grounds.
Whether you visit Lily Dale for spiritual reasons or to enjoy the scenery and businesses located on the grounds it’s day that you will remember.
Chautauqua Institution Shoreline photo
This photographic image is from a souvenir travel brochure published in the early 1900′s. The brochure featured places and photographic images from Jamestown and Chautauqua County.
I know the image is north of Miller Street but with fewer building in the background I cannot quite figure out the location. Does anyone know the location?
For those of you with images from this or who can identify the shoreline please let me know where the photo was taken.
The Chautauqua Institution begins its 2010 summer session June 26. The season will end August 29.
June 26 will be the first evening concert of the season, which starts 8:15 pm at the Amphitheater and features “The Boys in Concert.”

Mayville New York is the Couty seat in Chautauqua County, which located in NW New York State.
Mayville has a rich and long history and to this day still offers beautiful beaches and shore lines.
The photograph below is from a souvenir booklet published in the early 1900′s that featured Jamestown New York and the Chautauqua Lake area.
This image was of the train depot in Mayville which was located near the dock. In the past Mayville was a popular area for the arrivals and departures of tourist visiting Lake Erie, Chautauqua Lake, Celeron and Chautauqua for the summer programming held on the Chautauqua grounds.
